Settling for your 2nd or 3rd choice isn't ideal when it comes to anything in life, not food, not your spouse and especially not your annual fishing lodge vacation.

When you get your 2nd or 3rd choice instead of your 1st, even if it turns out to be a pleasant surprise, you're still left wondering – how would it have been if you had gotten your first choice? Your mind naturally assumes even better, which no doubt leaves you a bit disappointed.

You can probably see where we're going with this…

Yes, there are instances in life where not getting what you want turns out to be a blessing in disguise, but when it comes to fishing trips for passionate fisherman, why take the chance?

Why put off booking your favourite cabin, at your favourite lodge, during your favourite time of year until the last minute?
 
Why would you risk letting some other fisherman sleep in your favourite bed, sip coffee in the morning and maybe a beer or wine in the evening on your favourite deck, and look out upon your favourite view during your favourite time of the year?

Taking chances in life is good and should be done in many cases, but not when it comes to potentially losing out on your passions.
 
If you take the chance of not booking early, there’s a good chance you’ll see a fellow guest hoisting a record breaking musky (walleye or pike) on our Facebook or Instagram page, you’ll notice the familiar scenery in the background and the realization will set in that he or she is fishing your favourite hole during the time you were hoping to come fish at the lodge….
 
The reality will set in that all you had to do was pick up the phone and that could have been you hoisting that gorgeous freshwater beast that you managed to wrangle for all the world to see. Alas, you procrastinated and now must live with the result of your actions….
